What did CTM Online provide me with? How students view their own studies - references from students of Masaryk Gymnázium in Vsetín:
The AP Computer Science Principles course takes 6 to 10 hours a week and is incredibly fun.
Well, what can I tell you? CTM courses aren’t easy. I will even go as far as to say that not everyone is up to the challenge. However, it is not strictly because of knowledge or the lack thereof – this you will learn in the course and isn’t really a problem. The real reason is an entirely different one. Not everyone can keep up with the immense effort needed to be successful in the course. This course surely isn’t only going to take one evening a week. Don’t get me wrong, the course is excellent. One learns a great deal, but it really isn’t for people who cannot dedicate every little last bit of their free time to learning. To give an example: The course I am taking – ‘AP Computer Science Principles’ – takes me about six to ten hours a week, give or take a few hours. Despite that, however, I would certainly say that this course is excellent for preparing for college. I would certainly recommend trying a course for everyone interested. Furthermore, there are always great instructors who will lead you through the course. I am currently taking my second course. In both cases, I had an excellent teacher who was able to help me in any situation.
The course taught me responsibility, punctuality and made me able to organize my time.
To sum it up: the course is challenging but will teach you not only what its title says, but responsibility, punctuality and time management too. The teachers who will guide you throughout the course are great. However, if you are lazy and wish only to play computer games in your free time, I wouldn’t recommend taking the course, and I would say you better avoid it.

The ‘AP English Literature and Composition’ Online course opened the door to international colleges for me.
It was Fall 2020 when I, as a third-year student of Masaryk Gymnázium in Vsetín, enrolled in my CTM Online course. I was mainly motivated by the fact that studying this course allows me to learn something which is not very well known in the circles of the Czech educational system – English Literature. I didn’t pick the AP English Literature and Composition Online course only because of it being my interest, but also because of the opportunities of studying abroad which it made available to me – mainly easier access to universities in foreign countries. My course, which takes place on the ‘Buzz’ platform, is divided into nine separate modules, each focusing on a different aspect of literature. I have a chance to read a work of a famous Anglo-American literary author each month. Then, I organize my time according to set deadlines – it is good practice to invest at least one hour a day into studying the course. Everything predominantly depends on the students.
Cooperation with the instructor has been critical for my growth. Throughout the course, the student cooperates with the instructor, who provides the student with feedback on their work. In the case of AP English Literature, it is possible to discuss works of literature. That is why I meet with my instructor at the end of each module, discuss the book I read in a friendly way, discuss my essays and assignments and sometimes, even my goals and ambitions. After a few sessions, it seems more like a friendly conversation with someone who is as passionate about literature as I am and has a tremendous amount of experience with it.
Everything I learnt in the course has become my true passion.
What I find extremely important is the tremendous benefit which the course provides me. I learnt to manage my time better, to express myself in English better – both verbally and in the written word, analyze texts and critically assess them. Furthermore, I had the chance to read many famous works of world-known literature, examine them in detail and understand them better. What is most important, however, is that I have the chance to do what fulfils me, what will be the centerpiece of my future studies and what became, throughout the course’s duration, my true passion.
