CTYOnline Courses

CTYOnline courses focus on mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, information technology, humanities, and effective written communications for high ability students.  Experienced instructors/mentors guide students through the courses.

CTYOnline is a system of talent development.  Students choose from about 120 courses according to their knowledge of the subject and English, choosing more demanding courses as they advance.

During the course, students take tests, do laboratory assignments, write essays, and work on tasks as required by their instructor.  Students take final exams at the end of the course.  They study and communicate with their instructor in English.

CTYOnline AP courses are the most demanding, suitable typically for students 2 – 3 years before high school graduation.  Over seven months, each AP course covers topics studied over four years at high school.

Students complete CTYOnline AP courses with a final exam in April.  It’s highly recommended students also take the AP test, administered by the College Board an independent organization.  This test is measure of accomplishments compering our students with their peers in the rest of the world.  Several thousand students from all over the world take the same test at the same time.  In addition, CTYOnline AP courses prepare students superbly for a graduation exam at their school, IB, or admissions tests of some universities.

Czech students earn on average a 4.06 on a 5-point scale for AP exams compared to the average score globally of 2.89.  Some students received full scholarships to leading universities.  Students, parents and teachers are convinced, and give credit for these results to CTY.  Still, it has been a challenge to convince the education authorities about the effectiveness and the importance of the CTY system.
