The Center for Talented Minds (CTM) was created for students who prefer individual and flexible approach to education. CTM online solution provides a unique and innovative educational experience for all children from 11 years of age to high school graduation. For all CTM students, we respect their learning pace and desire to learn in a field they enjoy. Since all are teaching is in English, CTM students substantially improve their English.

Comprehensive Education System

In Discovery Saturdays’ we work with children 5 to 14 years of age, all-day meetings in class one Saturday a month. Each child picks a course(s) he/she is interested in and then explores it/them with their peers sharing the same interests. It could be archeology, programming, science experiments or yoga.  Discovery Saturdays are about more than just academic topics. They focus on holistic, harmonious personal development of every child.

Discovery Saturdays connect and overlap with CTM Online Junior Program. There we focus on English and basic skills in various fields. Online courses include a popular Start with Science or Literature for Curious Minds and many other topics. Students become familiar with studying in the online environment and build a foundation for more advanced work.

Gradually students advance to the most demanding Advanced Placement (AP) courses, which offer college-level curricula and examinations for public school students.  In a fun, engaging way, AP courses emphasize critical thinking and reasoning as well as learning through inquiry—critical underpinnings of deeper learning largely lacking in the public-school curriculum. Students gain detailed knowledge of key subjects, substantially improve their technical English, and become well prepared for AP exams and university studies. The AP system is equivalent to the IB system better known in Europe.

 

 

Wide Choice of Courses

We offer over 100 online courses in English in a wide range of subjects and difficulty from mathematics to creative writing. We recommend starting with easier courses (3 - 6 months) and gradually advance to demanding AP courses (lasting 7 to 12 months) and international AP exams.

Easier courses for younger students take about 2-3 hours of study per week. AP courses may require up to 10 hours. Students get into their chosen field, have fun studying and dramatically improve their English building a solid foundation for further studies and professional career.

We bridge formal and informal education. We work with schools, help them supplement and expand their teaching content, and in shaping individual study plans for talented and ambitious students. Schools should be in contact with CTM even if students take CTM Online courses on their own outside of school.

STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) courses are most popular. However, also popular are macroeconomics, microeconomics and psychology, subjects not offered in the standard Czech high school curriculum.

All Under the Guidance of an Instructor

Each student taking CTM Online course has an instructor, who inspires, motivates, mentors, monitors, provides detailed individual feedback and evaluation in English from start to finish.

CTM instructors undergo regular training. CTM system is set for high quality - we are demanding on students, but also on ourselves. We stick to the rule of 48-hour response to students' questions. We stay permanently in touch not only with students, but also with parents, especially younger students.  Parents receive regular progress reports on the studies of their children.

Perfect Technical English

CTM is all in English. Whatever the topic, English fluency helps students do better in college and in professional life. CTM students draw on the latest English professional articles, research reports and literature. This sets them apart from their school peers, who may have English thrice a week.  Obviously, English fluency, particularly technical English, is indispensable for students aiming to study abroad.

With CTM Online, children can start with technical English at 11 years of age (2nd grade of primary school), progressing in secondary school so they can work in research teams, read scientific literature and be on par in their studies and English proficiency with the best students worldwide.

Study Practices

Time management and resourcefulness are two critical skills distinguishing successful students. The sooner they master them, the easier it is for them to move to a demanding way of learning at a leading research university.

We Work with Schools

We work with dozens of schools throughout Czech Republic. Our partner schools use CTM online courses for their gifted students as part of individual study plans, as teaching supplements or as elective courses.

Our partner schools use CTM courses for gifted students. Online study with an instructor enables individualization which is infeasible in a class with 30 students.

Working with schools helps CTM to spread online education know-how. CTM engages teachers and doctoral students as instructors to help them gain practical experience in sophisticated online education.

Online with School Teachers in Charge

CTM offers to schools Literature, Literacy and Critical Thinking for High School Students, an online course for students with advanced English skills. The course can be incorporated directly into teaching. CTM trains the school teachers. The course is focused on the development of critical thinking, reading comprehension, interdisciplinary contexts and development of advanced English language skills.

The course makes is possible to individualize teaching in a modern online format. CTM with school teachers can customize the course to fit the school specific needs - either as a study material for project weeks or for individual work.
