The Center for Talented Minds (CTM), a partner of the American College Board, administers Advanced Placement (AP) exams in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. AP exams are a global standard of college readiness, taken by more than 5 million students worldwide each May. The AP program is equivalent to the International Baccalaureate (IB), offered by a few Czech private schools. By contrast, the AP program is a much more affordable, flexible system customizable to the interests and university study plans of each student.
Why AP exams?
AP exams offer a path to affordable international education. It is accessible to all, not just private school students. The AP exams measure each student in global competition. The AP exam grades are used by universities in admissions. CTM prepares students for the exams by special online AP courses. Each AP student is guided individually by an instructor from start to finish. This effective preparation makes CTM students excel. Also, CTM accepts other students for the AP exams who prepare independently. As long as they register properly on time, all students can take the AP exams.

In the last school year (2020/2021), due to the pandemic, AP exams were taken from May to August, both in class and online. Special thanks go to the Barandov Community Center for making it possible to hold in class exams on their premises. A total of 105 students took the AP exams, all prepared by taking CTM Online courses. They all excelled. The average grade was 3.96, a great result, considering AP exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 the best grade. Many foreign universities grant credits to students with AP exams for grades of 3 or higher, confirming the 3.96 average is truly excellent.

In 2019/2020, CTM students achieved an average AP grade score of 4.16. The lower score in 2020/2021 was influenced by students having to deal with unexpected school conditions including Covid. We do not yet know this year's global AP score, but it is clear that our students are once again among the world’s best.

CTM students have exceeded the global average in most AP exam subjects. We congratulate them all on such amazing results and believe their hard work will pay off for them in applying to their dream universities and in their university studies. CTM students should be proud of their excellent professional English, study and time management skills, as well as other competencies other students acquire more gradually often only when at a university.
For example, the AP Biology exam had an average worldwide grade of 2.83 compared to CTM students of 3.62, with two students achieving a 5 and five a 4 from 231,075 students who took the AP Biology exam, truly outstanding results.
250 students are registered with the CTM for the AP exams in May 2022. We are very much looking forward to more great results.
